Here at New Lawn Sod Farm we grow the most Elite Bluegrass varieties on rich sandy loam topsoil. We also grow a Fescue/Bluegrass blend is more tolerable in shady areas. We believe that in order to establish a high quality turfgrass it starts at the very beginning with the seed variety itself. We only buy the finest quality seed and nothing less; giving you a beautiful lawn to install for your customer. An added plus to TOP SOIL SOD is the ability to root in quickly. Think about it, our sod is grown on topsoil-you install a new lawn for your customer on soil structures very similar to what we grow our sod on-the new sod is on familiar ground therefore adapts quickly.
Quality Of Harvest
The ULTIMATE sod roll quality (no scalps). We can be sure of this because our harvester cutter head is mounted in the center of the machine. This eliminates the machine from tracking off course as do typical side mounted harvesters. What’s more, automatic steering makes sure every roll is 24 inches wide every time.
Other factors that contribute to a quality roll is that cutter head is pulled by our machine and not pushed. Down pressure on the cutting head itself and by an additional roller in front of the cutting head helps create this feeding action. This uniform cutting action is so precise it also decreases the weight of a roll, even though it has more area than our previous rolls.
Our 10 square foot roll significantly decreases laying time compared to a 1 yard roll (9 sq/ft) and come in the following varieties:
NLS Kentucky Bluegrass
New Lawn Sod Farm (NLS) turf blends contains the most Elite Kentucky Bluegrass varieties available today. Kentucky Bluegrass can withstand frequent mowing and intensive wear, and is a full sun grass widely used on home lawns in Michigan.
Tall Fescue
Turf-Type Fescues have increased in popularity in the past few years because of their deep root system that greatly reduces the frequency of watering and fertilizing. Our new varieties of fescue have more appealing color and have a thinner leaf blade than older varieties. Turf-Type Fescue has good resistance to disease and insects and performs well in shade or full sun.
New Lawn Sod Tip:
Before you buy sod, go look at what you’re buying. Because there is no set standards in the sod and turf management industry, what could be gauged as quality sod at one business might not be at the next. You wouldn’t buy a car without driving it. You wouldn’t buy carpet with out first looking at it. At New Lawn Sod Farm, we invite you to look at the sod field you are getting your sod from to see what it will look like on your grounds. Once you see what we have to offer, you too will agree we have the best sod.
